Production

Long time host Allison T. came back to continue the Pokémon sub-series that started with Survivor: Kanto. She brought back Chris Topher to host, and the two brought in long time player and one time winner Andrew Gentile to join their hosting team. The season was based on the Generation II Pokémon games, with twists taking inspiration from those video games. The blog was SurvivorJohto and the tag was TopPercentageSurvivor

Twists/Changes

• All Stars: The season was made up of 20 people, all who had previously played, and lost, one or more seasons in the series.
• Heroes vs. Villains: The divisions of the tribes is based on how the castaways are known for playing. The Akunin tribe is known for their sneaky, deceptive, cutthroat, or snarky ways. The Hīrōzu tribe is known for their loyalty, honor, friendship, or trust.
• Pokémon: Throughout the season, the players could catch Pokémon listed 152-251 in the Pokédex. The players could battle gyms with them, and legendary Pokémon had powers or items of their own.
  • Entei: When played, Entei would burn the vote of the person played on, nullifying it.
  • Ho-oh: Ho-oh held a super idol. A super idol has the same powers as a normal Hidden Immunity Idol, but it can be played after the votes have been read.
  • Lugia: Lugia held the Sapphire Idol. Instead of granting immunity to the person it is played on, the Sapphire Idol gives immunity to the top two vote getters at a tribal council.
  • Raikou: When played, Raikou would zap the votes. Each player must revote for someone other than they had originally voted for.
  • Suicune: When played, Suicune would freeze the vote of the person played on, forcing them to vote for the same person next tribal council as they had at the one where Suicune was played.
